Professional Cook

Professional Cook

Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare and cook food, as well as supervise other culinary professionals in the kitchen. They may work in restaurants, hotels, resorts, private residences

Salary: $46,620

Education: High school diploma

Food has been my to go place; I feel like everyone should be able to enjoy the food they eat. I have been cooking since the age 11-years-old, due to my mother and step father having a divorce. My mom was forced to go to work, and I was forced to learn how to take care and maintain the home and siblings. I would watch the cooking channel every day after school while I cooked, just so that I could learn.

Henry David Thoreau

Student Success Statement

“Goodness is the only investment that never fails.”

Henry David Thoreau

Being nice relies with goodness. If people are too nice, the majority of the world will take advantage and use you for their own selfish benefits. I personally think that goodness can fail a person, because if you don’t know how to defend yourself properly, your goodness will be worthless to the rest of the world.

World Records

World Records
     1.           The person with the greatest number of bones tattooed
     ·    Rick Genest aka 'Rico'
     ·    27 April 2011.

2.  largest playing card structure: a replica of The Venetian Macao
·   Bryan Berg
·   March 2010

3.   The longest fingernails in the world
·     Christine Walton
·    February 2011

4.  I don’t have a favorite world record.

5.  I wouldn’t try to break a world record. I feel like it is a waste of life. Not only am I not good at anything, I would probably lose to someone better, so no I don’t care for world records.

Theodore Hesburgh

Student Success Statement

“My basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because they are easy; you don’t make them because they are cheap; you don’t make them because they’re popular; you make them because they’re right.”

Theodore Hesburgh

I can agree with this statement, whether you make a good or bad decision, if it feels right to you, go for it. If I am okay dealing with the consequences of what that decision will bring, then it does not matter the side it was made on. It only matters if I do not take responsibility.

Licensed Practical Nurse

Licensed Practical Nurse

Duties and Responsibilities: Licensed practical nurses and licensed vocational nurses provide basic nursing care. They work under the direction of registered nurses, physicians, and doctors. It includes nursing in homes and extended care facilities, such as hospitals, physicians' offices, and private homes; cares for people who are sick, injured, convalescent, or disabled.

Salary: $41,540

Education: 12-month program accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission

There are too many types of different nurses, and it is honestly overwhelming me. I don’t want to become a licensed practical nurse. It seems like a boring but a little bit of a stressful job. Especially when being a nurse is a full time job. I am not up for that kind of responsibility. The pay is not even that great. I will be earning more money anyway working as a life guard.

Joseph Smith

Student Success Statement

“It is our duty to concentrate all our influence to make popular that which is sound good and unpopular that which is unsound (not good).”

Joseph Smith

In all honesty, I do not get this statement. I don’t know if it is telling me to make doing good popular, or that what is popular is not doing good so we should change it… yea I don’t know.

Home Health Aide

Home Health Aide

Duties and Responsibilities: Home health aides go to a patient's home, to deliver health care to the elderly, ill, or disabled. They assist with personal tasks such as dressing, bathing, and helping to keep homes safe and clean. It allows those who would need a higher level of care the opportunity to live in their own home.

Salary: $21,020

Education: Certificate and training courses

Becoming a home health aide is not in my career list, I do not like helping people, especially when it involves cleaning and helping someone bath. That just grosses me out. I mean if the pay rate was higher I would reconsider.
