April Fool’s Day
Traditionally an occasion for playing tricks on
April 1st. This custom has
been observed for hundreds of years, but its origin is unknown. Some see it as a celebration related to the turn of
the seasons, while others believe it stems from the adoption of a new calendar.
Romans and Hindus, celebrated New Year's Day on or around April 1. Later it was
changed to January 1st; people
began to make fun of the tradition, sending them on "foolish errands"
trying to trick them into believing different things.
