"Bless You"


“Bless You”


Whenever someone sneezes, you say “bless you”


Why? Why are these words spoken? The words were spoken to bless someone after sneezing because sneezing was an obvious symptom of one form of the plague.
When? When did this saying originate? The term originated thousands of years ago by the Romans.
How? How did this saying originate? It originated due to ancient superstitions, that a sneeze would cause the soul to escape the body through the nose. Saying "bless you" would stop the devil from claiming a person's soul.

Where? Where did this saying originate? It entered the English language in the early 20th century
